CRABBET SHOW 2008 - Saturday 13th September in the Walled Garden of Belvoir Castle
Following on from the success of the Crabbet Show in 2007, the Crabbet Organisation Committee is pleased to announce that the 2008 Crabbet Show will again take place in the Walled Garden at Belvoir Castle by kind permission of Frances, Duchess of Rutland.
A few changes have been planned for this year. The Show will take place on Saturday 13th September and the dinner will take place after the show with the final awards being presented at the dinner. Once again this will be held at the Manners Hotel and tickets will be available from June from Susan Hawes. The dinner sold out in 2007 so early booking is essential as we are limited to 80 people.
The Committee, at the request of the members, have decided to organise stabling for this year. However if this loses money, we will not be able to do this in future. The cost will be £50 for the day of 13th and either night of 12th or 13th or £65 for nights of 12/13th and 13th day. A deposit of £10 will be requested before you receive your stable allocation which will be returned once the stable has been mucked out completely.
A few extra classes have been entered into the programme which we hope will be popular. The schedules will be sent out with the June Crabbet Journal and will go up on the website at the beginning of June.
We look forward to seeing you all again at the show and already overseas visitors are booking their holidays around the show so we hope you will have a chance to catch up with friends abroad or make new acquaintances. ARAB HORSE SOCIETY MARATHON - 11TH/12TH OCTOBER 2008 - STARTING FROM LARKHILL RACECOURSE, AMESBURY, WILTSHIRE
Saturday 11th - Pleasure Ride over the Marathon Course over Salisbury Plain and Team Competition, Falconry Display, Potential Sports Horse Competition and Costume display.
Sunday 12th - AHS Marathon and Veteran Marathon, open to all breeds start 11.00 a.m. but Parade and Premium Scheme hores and possible past Marathon winners at 10.00. Come and watch, have lunch in the Queens Building, take a trade stand, buy a banner, horse sweepstakes with prize of a long weekend in a chalet in the New Forest or come and steward at the event. CRABBET STALLIONS REIGN SUPREME AT HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW, 2007.
PHA SILVERN RISALM (99.5% Crabbet) by Silvern Sceptre out of Rislina, owned by Tiffani McCarthy and bred by Mr and Mrs. D Peck, and ridden by DARREN CROWE took the RIDDEN ARABIAN OF THE YEAR 2007, award with IKONI (100% Crabbe) by Prince Sadik out of Silvern Image, owned by Haley Budge and bred by Mr and Mrs R Archer and ridden by BEN MARTIN, were RESERVE RIDDEN ARABIAN OF THE YEAR, 2007.
